Take a Different Approach with Myobrace

It seems most children these days are developing crowded teeth. Although some symptoms can appear as young as 3 years old, dentists recommend waiting until the child is older to treat with braces and possibly adult tooth extractions. Since most parents are not aware of alternative treatments, they accept this advice and hold off treatment until their child is around 12 to 14 years old. This does not solve the issue permanently and once the braces are removed, the teeth will almost certainly relapse and crowd again, especially if the child does not wear their retainer!

Crowded teeth are a symptom, as well as a warning sign, that the child’s jaws are not developing correctly. Myofunctional Research Co. (MRC) has found the main culprits of crowded teeth are poor oral habits, such as mouth breathing and incorrect swallowing, combined with the forces of the tongue, cheeks, and lips. In order to prevent serious problems from developing in later years, these habits can and should be treated as early as possible. Early intervention also achieves results that are not possible once the face and jaws have stopped growing.

Based on this research, Bronte Family Orthodontics uses a different approach to orthodontic treatment. MRC’s state-of-the-art Myobrace® appliances correct bad oral habits in growing children and improve dental as well as facial development. This means orthodontic problems can be corrected much earlier and without the need for long-standing braces or extractions.

At Bronte Family Orthodontics, we encourage early treatment and address orthodontic issues using these innovative appliances rather than with fixed braces. While traditional orthodontics is directed at moving teeth, the Myobrace® treatment system improves the child’s oral environment by eliminating the bad habits that cause crooked teeth. By achieving this, not only are teeth aligned, there is also better retention.

Myobrace® appliances are easy to use and worn for one hour every day during normal daily activity and overnight. Due to the high demand from parents for this pain- and stress-free solution, Bronte Family Orthodontics is devoted to this form of treatment. With our client’s results as evidence, the Myobrace® system not only improves the structure of the teeth and jaws, this fun interactive treatment encourages children to take responsibility to correct their habits.

The next step towards treatment is setting up a consultation which includes an evaluation of the child’s dental and jaw development, along with an educational presentation. Contact the team at Bronte Family Orthodontics and find about booking a free Myobrace consultation by calling 905 878 5447!
