Bronte Family Orthodontics- Diagnostic Records

Most people see the words Diagnostic Records & Case Analysis and think…hmm, what could that be?

Well we understand this and want to make education a big part of what we do. We also want our patients to understand every step of their treatment because understanding the procedure and the reason for treatment will erase any anxiety or fears related to Orthodontics. Well, we hope it will :)The first step in your records appointment will be to fill out a Medical History form as well as the Consent for Treatment. This information is standard for any Orthodontic treatment and will allow our office to keep proper records of any illness’s and emergency contacts.

First, you will be brought to your own private room by Natasha, one of our trained Level II Dental Assistant’s. She will take a few preliminary photo’s for your “Before & After” records and then begin your impressions. The impressions are simply a mould of your upper and lower teeth as well as a “bite registration”. The bite registration is a thin sheet of wax that you will bite on for several seconds which will allow us to see how your teeth fit together when biting. These mouldings will then be processed into Orthodontic Study Models.

These records are then assessed by the Orthodontist to determine any crowding, spacing or overbite issues. The records will be kept for many years and are often used to discuss your treatment with you or your dentist.

The last step in your records appointment is a Panoramic Radiograph & Cephalometric Radiograph. At our office both radiograph’s or x-ray’s are digital which means low radiation and a fast, easy process. The total time for this appointment is only 15 minutes!! Book your first visit today by contacting us at www.brontefamilyortho.com.

Stay tuned for our next blog post where we will discuss the first day with braces !!
